Toronto's Best Brunch

Toronto's Best Brunch

I have opinions about brunch, and Toronto does too. We're a city that will line up in the cold for pork chashu benedict at Ohiru Cafe but also demands a perfect crispy homefry at Good Fork.

The spread here runs from a splurge-worthy Kobe beef event at Black+Blue to the gloriously messy, sauce-on-your-shirt chicken at Dirty Food Eatery. I’ve eaten my way through this list so you don’t have to make bad decisions.

(I have made them for you.) Set your alarms and bring your stretchy pants.

Here’s where to eat this weekend.

Warm, welcoming hospitality

Sweet, attentive service
Worth returning for

I walked into Motto expecting a standard brunch. I left feeling slightly guilty about my low expectations. The plates arrived looking like they belonged on a magazine cover. Then I tasted them. Fresh, bright, and genuinely flavorful. The hospitality matched the food. Warm, sweet, and attentive without hovering. I finished my coffee and considered ordering another just to stay longer. This place earns its return visit. It is not flashy. It just works. And in this city, that is worth more than a gimmick. I will be back. That is the highest compliment I can give.

Excellent, crispy homefries
Rich, shareable french toast
Easy plant-based substitutions

The Morning After knows exactly what it is doing. The menu names are playful. I rolled my eyes. Then I ordered. The homefries arrived crispy on the outside, soft within. Excellent, as promised. The french toast was rich and designed for sharing. My friend ordered it. I stole two bites. No regrets. Service stayed friendly even when we lingered. They offered plant-based swaps without making it a thing. That is rare. I left full, slightly annoyed at my own predictability. I will order the same thing next time.

Fluffy waffles, perfect eggs
Friendly staff like Lucas

OEB Breakfast Co. runs a tight, polished operation. Service starts sharp and never dips. My Holy Crab Benny arrived with a poached egg that leaked perfectly. It was rich, briny, and entirely ridiculous in the best way. The French Toast Trifle is dessert pretending to be breakfast. I ate it anyway. Waffles stayed fluffy. Eggs were cooked with precision. A staff member named Lucas checked on us twice. He remembered our order. That attention matters. This is not a quiet spot. It is confident and loud. The food backs it up.

I arrived at Bobby's near closing. That is usually a mistake. Not here. The owner greeted me like I was the only person who mattered. The coffee came first, hot and strong. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Every plate that went out looked beautiful and tasted fresh. Nothing felt rushed. The owner kept checking in. He cared. That is the whole review. Delicious food and genuine hospitality. I do not need more than that. I will be back, earlier this time. Probably for a second coffee.

Halva pancakes are unforgettable
Cilbir bowl with lamb, divine
Warm, knowledgeable service crew
Generous portions, arrive starving

Good Fork ruined other brunches for me. The home fries are the best in Toronto. I will fight anyone who disagrees. The halva pancakes are unforgettable. Sweet, nutty, and somehow light. My cilbir bowl came with lamb that melted. Divine is the only word. The staff knows the menu inside out. They recommended boldly. Portions are generous. Arrive starving. I could not finish mine. I sat there, defeated and happy. This is a brunch that respects your time and your appetite. I have already planned my return.

Refrigerated meat wall intrigue

Black+Blue is not a brunch place. It is an event. The service is outstanding from start to finish. Attentive, polished, never pushy. The room feels elegant and upscale. I ordered the Kobe beef. It was exceptional. The seafood matched. Then came the surprise dessert. They remembered it was my friend's birthday. That gesture cost them little and meant everything. The refrigerated meat wall is weird and fascinating. You will stare. I did. This is a splurge. A worthy one. Not your everyday brunch. Save it for a reason to celebrate.

Worth the splurge occasionally

Siempre is bright and generous. Portions arrive like they are trying to feed a small army. Mine was a brunch for one. I failed to finish. The french toast looked like a painting. It tasted even better. The pancakes were fluffy and perfect for sharing. I shared reluctantly. Service stayed attentive and friendly throughout. We never waited for water or coffee. The bill felt justified. Not cheap, but not outrageous. This is the kind of place you visit for a special treat. I will save it for a good day. And a big appetite.

Small space, big flavors
Worth braving the draft
A solid brunch bet

Dirty Food Eatery is small. It is also draughty. I sat near the door and regretted my coat choice. Then the chicken arrived. Crispy, loud, and bold. The toppings were aggressive. I loved them. Every bite had texture and heat. This place does not apologize for its flavors. It does not need to. The space is cramped. You will bump elbows. You will not care. This is a solid brunch bet. Reliable, messy, and satisfying. I left with sauce on my shirt. Worth it. I would do it again tomorrow.

Chicken and waffles standout

Old School understands brunch. The blueberry pancakes come with bacon. That is correct. The breakfast cocktails are amazing. I had two. The steak and potatoes were hearty, honest food. Chicken and waffles stood out. Crispy, sweet, and savory. The staff makes custom cocktails. I asked for something citrusy. They nailed it. No menu, no problem. The room feels familiar in the best way. Not fancy. Just right. I came for the food. I stayed for the service. This place delivers without pretending otherwise.

Staff service steals show

Pera Cafe brings Turkish breakfast downtown. It is halal, which is useful for many. The Montreal smoked sandwich is a surprise. Perfect, smoky, and layered. The borek and simit shine. Flaky, warm, and seasoned properly. My egg croissant plate was a winner. Everything felt considered. But the staff stole the show. They were warm, quick, and genuinely present. That kind of service changes a meal. I do not usually review the people. Here, I make an exception. They made me feel like a regular. I left planning my next visit.

Creative fusion worth celebrating
Cozy contemporary interior design
Memorable birthday surprises included

Chefry's is a fusion gamble. It pays off. The dishes are generous and packed with flavor. I had something that blended cuisines I do not usually combine. It worked. The service came with personal touches. They remembered my name. Then came a birthday surprise. Not mine, but a table nearby. The staff sang. The room celebrated. It felt cosy and contemporary. This is a global kitchen with local heart. The portions are big. The flavors are bigger. I left full and oddly cheerful. That is the goal, is it not?

Pork chashu benedict rich
Hojicha latte shines
Crispy, soft potatoes
Out-of-town guests approve
Worth the early wait

Ohiru Cafe made me wait. I arrived early and still queued. It was worth it. The pork chashu benedict is rich. Rich enough to ruin other benedicts. The hojicha latte has a roasted depth that coffee cannot match. My potatoes were crispy outside, soft inside. Perfectly executed. My out-of-town guests approved. That is the real test. They asked to come back tomorrow. I said yes. The wait seemed shorter the second time. So did the plate. This is a breakfast worth planning around. Set your alarm. Bring patience. Eat well.
